I’m from Utah! I’ll be interviewing on the 10th also! What’s your background? And are you going to the tour the day before!

I got an interview invite for August 10th as well! How long did it take after accepting your interview invite for them to email you with additional information? I'll be coming from Iowa 🙂

An hour after I replied that I would be attending on the 10th!!

How long after everything was completed did you hear back? I am getting anxious even though I just submitted everything very recently. I'm from New York and would love to go to UVU 🙂

I have a background in pathology and have been working in healthcare for a while (Utah Valley Hospital).  I never thought PA school would be an option for me, but now with UVU so close to home I couldn't wait to jump on board!   Hopefully my experience and enthusiasm serves me well in the interview!  I will be there for the tour on Friday.  It would be great to chat.

My CASPA application was verified on May 14, and I took the CASPer test on that date as well.  I didn't receive a confirmation email from UVU until the end of July because my application was mistakenly disqualified (I didn't receive credit for a prerequisite on my transcripts).  If you haven't heard from them in a couple of weeks, definitely call or email.  They are very pleasant to work with, and actually initiated the call to me to correct the mistake.  Good luck!

That’s amazing! I almost applied for path A! My background is pathology also, but clinical laboratory sciences, molecular biology and genetics. I’ve also been in health care and research for several years

I already spoke with the program because it said I was missing something after submitting it yesterday (but it turns out I wasn't). They responded so quickly and were very pleasant to work with. Now I just have to wait for them to review my application. How long after receiving confirmation did you hear about your status?

Wow!  We have very similar backgrounds.  My undergrad is in clinical laboratory sciences, and I actually am a PathA!

After our conversation on the phone, she emailed me the confirmation letter immediately.  That was right before the first round of interviews.  However, I didn't hear anything from the program until the second round of interviews when I was invited to participate.  I know it is so stressful!  Hang in there!

I'll be there on the 10th as well, so if anyone would like to meet up for some food/conversation on the 9th to shake off some anxiety, hit me up!

Hey Farafish260 and JHHay30 (and anyone else coming on the 9th/10th)!  I'm totally up for grabbing a bite after the tour.  It would be really reassuring to go in Saturday morning knowing a few people.  Let's do the tour, and then go grab a J-Dawg and a Coke.  My name is Heidi.

Heidi, that sounds good to me! If anyone else wants to join, I'll see you at the tour or at J-Dawgs. Good luck, people!

I can probably meet up at J-Dawgs for a quick bite, but the hubby has to get to work by 7 and we live in SLC so I can’t stay too long. I’ll have my 2 year old with me also. I’m excited to meet both of you 🙌🏽

Oh nice! Where are you coming from? I’m not sure of the address but hopefully pathAgirl will post the address. I’m from downtown SLC

      Hi, everyone!
What are your thoughts on applying to programs with a ARC-PA probationary accreditation status (i.e., "Accreditation-Probation")?
I'm a first-time applicant, and a couple schools that I have my eye on currently have probationary statuses (Johnson & Wales University; Monmouth University). I was wondering if it's worth applying to said schools, especially to ones that have had a probationary status for more than two years.
Although these schools are still considered accredited, is it safe to apply to & then attend these schools? Do these schools prepare students to become competent & trustworthy healthcare professionals? Are these schools worth the debt? My concern is enrolling in a school with probationary accreditation and graduating as a sub par PA-C, but those are just my uncertain sentiments at the moment.
Moreover, I've read that applying to these schools may be advantageous to some who aren't considered "strong applicants" (e.g., average grades/GRE). On the other hand, I've seen "strong applicants" display their admiration & loyalty to these schools here on PA Forum. I'm confused! Let's open up the discussion!

I worked as a PRN rehab technician for about 3 months (roughly 20 hours a week) before I became Full-Time (40 hours a week).  How do I record this change in hours? Do I make two separate entries or average the hours per week?  My hours for PRN also varied each week, with weeks working up to 30 hours and sometimes only 15 hours. Do I need to record this somehow? I also do not understand how PA schools validate that the numbers of hours stated are honest. Is there some sort of validation document needed from each employer from past jobs.  Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

I thought I’d start this since I didn’t see any posts about this application cycle yet. Has anyone heard back besides the normal “we received your application” email?

I was checking my verified application & I have “Punjabi” listed under “native language”.  On CASPA my response to “first language” was “Punjabi”.   To clarify, I am fluent in English. (I’ve been speaking English since I was 5!! I answered to "first language" quite literally.) Will I run into any problem with PA programs? Would they assume otherwise?   --I was born in California and went to schools K-12 in Cali and then Uni of Cali, Santa Cruz for undergrad. Has anyone else experienced this?
**The application is locked & I am unable to change it to English**

Hi everyone.  Thought I'd start the discussion for the 2019-2020 application cycle.  Good luck!
