Hiring for a position in our clinic

5:1 applicanats NP to PA with most NP new grads

Just interviewed the first PA - professional attire, business suit, together, professional, articulate - offering the job soon

It is about how we look, how we dress, how we put ourselves forward and this PA rocked it!

The future looks bright in the trenchs!

It's difficult to believe that at the inception of our profession , salaries were 17,000 to 20,000. We've come a long way , baby. In NY, the average salasy for a PA in EM or Urgent Care five years ago was 55-65 dollars per hour. Are salaries changing this much today?

Well 17k in 1965 is equivalent to 139k now adjusted for inflation.

55-65/hr is 104k-135k so it looks like we lost money...db3ab125b39a1c2904178c1e7d6cea65.jpg

There were a lot less administrators back then, we gotta chip in on their salaries, otherwise how would we know what metrics to meet?!

fixed that for you. At my last job, the docs got 50% of the rvu on each PA chart they signed, whether or not they saw the pt. If they "saw" the pt (stuck their head in the door for 2 seconds and wrote a brief note) they got 75%.

We figured out that the PA group bought each doc in the group a $50,000 car each year and bought them their $600,000 house if they stayed for 20 years.

The worst part is they will be hating on PAs after the fact

and this is why we need independence and ability to bill.  Insane that they make that much money off us....
