Gannon University: Ruskin FL

Recommended Posts

They have been established in Erie, Pennsylvania for a 5 year program for high school graduates as well as a 2 year program for post bacc. They now have a new post bacc in FL and will be getting accredited in March 2019 (fingers crossed).

They have a pre-req needed called into to research? Is this the same as like a capstone internship with research paper? I never had a specific class called into to research?

They accepted my Thesis class as a research class and they accept anything equivalent so I'm sure that would work!

Did you already take that Casper test? Or did you wait for them to tell you to take it?

I signed up to take it as soon as I applied on CASPA because Casper gives you a specific day to take it so it's better to do it ASAP!

I already took Casper for another school and I am kind of annoyed I have to take it again. I emailed and asked if my results could be sent to them but I don't know if thats allowed... I do not want to waste money to take it again lol. I am also in the same boat I have no classes titled "intro to research" and I am not sure what I can put that would be accepted. Maybe professional and technical writing?

Dang hopefully you don't have to pay and take it again ? I'm honestly not sure what would cover the intro to research class but if you email/call please let me know what they say because I'm sure a lot of people are in that same boat.

There is the option on Casper to add additional schools to your results so I got that taken care of. For the section where it says to upload proof of shadowing/healthcare hours they said we can show paid experience so I was just going to upload my timesheet from work. Will they accept this? I don't want to keep emailing the admissions committee lol.

Yes I got a confirmation email the next day and took Casper right away. The Casper website states that they received my scores on September 11th.

That is so weird. I haven’t heard anything else. @amh2021 didn’t you get an interview offer?

Thought I'd start a 2020-2021 pa forum for this cycle. I was verified on 5/14. Good Luck everyone!

      Hello everyone,
I am very new to this forum and was told by my advisors and peer to check it out. I am currently a college senior and recently developed an interest in becoming a physician assistant. I am very scared to apply for PA programs in 2020-2021, I am not sure why but its just I think I am not qualified or ready enough to apply for the programs yet.
Undergrad Major: B.S. in Health Science
      cGPA: 3.93
Science GPA: ~3.6 (?) I have already finished basic prereqs requirements but some program requires organic chem/ biochem which I haven't completed yet.
PCE: 2000+ (worked as a CNA/PCT in ER and nursing home)
Volunteer: 700+ hours (community, health organizations, cultural, etc)
Leadership: President of a college club
Shadowing: None, I got accepted to shadow through the hospital shadowing opportunity but due to this pandemic, they are temporarily closing it. This is my biggest concern! Some programs doesn't require it but my state program highly recommends applicant to have shadowing experience.
GRE: haven't taken one because everything is temporarily close right now. So, I am looking to apply for programs that doesn't require GRE.
Right now, I am planning on applying to programs that doesn't require GRE and shadowing experience and I can only find UC Davis PA Program to match my stats but since I don't have other schools lined up on my list, I am scared to apply for 2020-2021.
Can you guys think of any programs that matches my stats? Any help would be great. Thank you!

Hi! I wasn’t sure if I should apply this cycle to PA school so I wanted to get some opinions. My GPA is a 3.89. I have a biomedical science degree and chemistry minor. I have over 1000 hours as a phlebotomist at a plasma donation center where I get donors hooked up to machines and monitor them throughout the whole process, troubleshoot problems, and respond to patients that have reactions. I am also a medical screener there too where I take vitals, prick fingers, assess protein and hematocrit readings. I train new hires in both of these positions in addition to that. In college I was part of a sorority and had a position as Marshall where I served on the ceremonies team. I was also secretary of the Red Cross Club. I volunteered at the hospital for about a year in the emergency department. I also went to Costa Rica with a group of doctors where I took a course in emergency medicine and became certified as a Wilderness first responder. I also bartended my senior year. I planned to get shadowing but due to the COVID restrictions I will not be able to. I am planning on taking the GRE soon as well. Please let me know if I would be considered a weak or strong applicant. Is it worth it to apply or should I most likely wait until I can shadow/get more hours in?! Thank you!!

Hello everyone! I did not see a thread for the applications for Gannon University in Erie, PA? Has anyone applied as a post-baccalaureate student? They do have a 5 year combined bachelor's and master's program but I believe they accept a few students besides their undergraduate class.
