I feel as though I waited too long to apply in this cycle. I have only received rejections from two of the schools and have not heard anything but confirmation emails from the others. I am very concerned and feeling really down about this situation. This is my first attempt at getting into PA school. I was just really hoping to get in on the first try. :(

I, like everyone here, am eager for some kind of good news. That being said, I'm hoping any flaws in my application and my non-traditional (former Theater major) background bring diversity to the table. This is my first time applying and I really hope that it's my only time. If anyone has any suggestions or obvious holes in my application that I'm blatantly missing or if you're someone with a similar profile, I'd really like to hear from you!

My cumulative undergrad GPA when calculated by CASPA is a 3.03 because of my first attempt at college in 2005 when I dropped 4 classes. My USF GPA is a 3.76 and CASPA science GPA is 3.43, with upward trends in the last 3 semesters. Hopefully admissions committees will be understanding of this, and weigh my HCE, LOR, and life experience which I've worked really hard for.

I am also a surgical technologist!!! I don't see too many applying for PA schools. Good luck!!!!!! I'm in a very similar situation as you are, years ago dropped out of many courses during the semester due to health reasons, had to take a bunch of withdrawals which ruined my GPA, but with tech school and then finishing my bach, it has really gone up, plus working full time while in school full time, to prove to admissions I want this... oh boy. I feel you! Again, best of luck!! I am still waiting for an interview myself!

Still waiting to hear back from MCPHS after my interview. I used this application cycle only as a "trial run" in order to get used to how CASPA works. I was completely shocked to hear that I actually received an interview. My stats seemed to be on par for Touro, but are extremely low for MCPHS. Just goes to show that anything can happen!

Please take what I'm about to say as constructive criticism. You're not applying smart. You're applying to a small amount of programs and the majority if not all of them are name state schools which you probably don't have residency working in your favor. If your goal is simply getting into PA school you will most likely be denied this cycle if those are the only schools you're applying to with your undergrad GPA. The newer programs and the smaller schools are the ones you want to target with your GPA. It's either that or doing a formal post-bacc or masters program to take a future shot at the Duke's and MEDEX's. Although I think your best route is to apply smarter and to schools you stand a stronger chance of being accepted this cycle. Best of luck!
