I appreciate the input and PM'd you.

I mostly agree.  Broadening your pool and getting accepted somewhere/anywhere will allow you to enter the profession earlier.  With that comes another year of added income, and one less year of the grind/stress that comes from applying.

But I also wanted to add that you shouldn't be entirely discouraged by your old GPA.  If your goal is to go to a particular program (something arguably better/older/bigger), you can absolutely keep grinding to achieve that.  Just have the understanding that it might take several attempts.  I know folks with similar/worse GPAs that were able to earn acceptance at great schools.  Granted this was combined with a very large number of clinical hours, great GRE scores, etc.

To each their own.  Keep at it!

I am very fortunate to be able to cast a wide net because you never know what will happen. I checked to make sure and I'm pretty sure all of these schools accept scribe hours. I'm working on finishing my pre-requisites through December and accumulating volunteer/experience until I'm accepted, even if thats not this cycle.

Will your pre reqs be completed in the summer? I think South says they have to be done before December...

According to the website 2 outstanding prerequisites are allowed. Anatomy and Microbiology are my only outstanding pre-requisites for South and they will be completed in the fall.

In the current South 2018 thread, people are saying pre reqs should be done before August.

This is my 4th time applying. I only applied to 1 school for the first cycle and received an interview but was rejected. 2nd cycle only applied to 2 schools with no interview invites. The 3rd  cycle I applied to 14 schools and retook A&P 2. I received 2 interview invites and was rejected to 1 program and waitlisted at the other. This time around I retook my GRE and significantly improved my score. I also took a whole different direction with my PS. I am hoping and praying that I finally get accepted this cycle. I have already received an interview invite 3 days after I submitted my application.

Not sure what my chances are at this point in my journey.  I could probably benefit from better quality and more PCE since my GPA is less than stellar.  Will be interviewing for a position as a tech at a hospital this week and continuing to take more higher level science courses to increase my knowledge. But I wanted to take a shot at applying this cycle since I'm older than the average applicant and don't want my pre reqs to expire.  If you never try you never know ;)

Undergraduate major- biological psychology

GPA- 3.41 overall

SGPA-3.29

Post Bacc prerequisites - 3.74

upward trend with GPA since junior year of college

GRE- V-156 Q-152 W-5.0

PCE- 1800 CNA in a county nursing home and rehab facility

Non patient care experience- 5000 hours as a microbiology lab technician

volunteer hours-

30 head start program

50 Ambulatory Surgical Unit volunteer

30 street medicine volunteer

shadowing hours- 20 urgent care

LORS- charge nurse, CNA program instructor, chemistry professor

schools applied- Desales, Phila U, Chatham, Thomas jefferson, Rutgers, Penn State, Duke, UC Davis, Drexel

CASPA verified June 21

I welcome anyone's advice for being a better applicant.  Good luck to you all :)

Hello! I am new to this so I am hoping someone can offer some advice. Is it better to just take upper level classes or get a Masters in something if you need to improve your gpa? I am thinking I need to take some upper level science classes to boost my GPA and my BCP. My undergrad was Pre-Professional Biology BS so I have taken a LOT of basic science courses and all Prerecs already. I had some health issues that caused me to take a hit during college and those are the ones I retook for the most part but it left me with a lower gpa. I have tried to improve it but I need suggestions of what upper level classes I can take and where.. Preferably online!!! - I am in Wa state

Side note: I have STRONG LOR, HCE ect.. I am applying this year to get the experience and see what happens but I am planning for the worst and want to get started improving my stats again. I just need pointed in the direction of what classes to take that are upper level online and would be accepted by schools.
