MEDEX 2014-2015 applicants

Recommended Posts

What a fantastic experience!  I was in the dental queue all day, helping keep the order and flow before patients were brought back to dental triage.  The demand for dental treatment was much higher than I thought it was be.  I believe at our busiest time, there were 150 people waiting in our section.  And it was taking 1.5-2 hours to get brought back - on top of the waiting the patients had already done to even get into the event in the first place.  The worst part was having to inform them that we were no longer able to do root canals, flippers, crowns - then later no more fillings or cleanings.  Needless to say there were plenty of frustrated folks.  Nonetheless I was taken aback by the entire thing.  The patients and volunteers were unwaveringly helpful, energetic, and friendly despite being exhausted.  Keeping my fingers crossed they'll try to do it again next year!

Really great to see you other MEDEX prospectives were taking part as well.  I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you guys.

I'd love to do it again, it was a great experience (almost comparable to those medical missions). I was onsite on Sat helping out both Registration & Triage, sometimes escorted LEP clients (lots of walking :-) ). Many people received the care they seek, but some frustrated with Dental works and some frustrated at the Vision Clinic (for not providing Bi-focal lens). The way I see things happened:

- the clients whose really need to services, they appreciated every bit of wood-chips or service RAM provided (regardless their expectations per "word- of-mouth about RAM "done" more things for others).

- the clients whose really don't need the services (only come for free dental/vision/flu shot & great shoes, but upset that they couldn't get the root canal or bi-focal lens) are the people with most complaints.

Nonetheless, the volunteers are the best of all especially the General Support volunteers, they dealt with most frustrated clients unhappy for one reason or another. As an interpreter, I learned a lot as well.

I didn't show up on Sun, however, as my car was broke in (among other cars) at the Free parking @Mercer St Garage. I believe the person tried to drive away with my car (my car was the oldest generation among the other cars being broken into), I spent the whole day yesterday replacing the window glass and fix the ignition on my own (many auto shops either closed, or will charge me an arm/leg for it).

Good luck tomorrow, interviewers!!! You will do great, just relax a little and remember to smile! I will get to meet most of you at lunch tomorrow, a group of current first years are (staggering) coming down after our Basic Clinical Science midterm!

It was a great experience! The interview process was a little different from what people had told me, but it was really good. The candidates were spectacular. I feel as though MEDEX has a tough job ahead of them. Deciding who gets in will be difficult, because everyone seemed like a great fit.

I did expect to answer more questions, but the interview went smoothly. There was one interview, the last one, that only had three questions. The conversation just flowed so well. The admissions team was very helpful, even comforted me after I clearly stumbled over my words. Some of my interviewers were even making jokes with some candidates during the interview. (You'll love it, arpy_sharpie)

Thank you for all of your support. Your kind words, even though I am new to this forum, everyone has been so helpful! This was my first interview in my journey to becoming a PA and I am very pleased with the experience. I learned a lot about the interview process.

Thank you!

I echo what Tenesha said! It was a good experience, even though I was exhausted afterwards. I felt honored to be in a room with so many outstanding candidates. Everyone was so nice, including faculty, staff, and current students. And being able to connect with the group of at the meetup the night before was priceless. I am rooting for everyone and can't wait to see and hear good news when it starts to come in!

Yes Michael, this is Tenesha from AMR! Thank you so much, it was great getting to interview with you! I hope you get in! You interviewed so well, there is no way they could say no.

I appreciate the kind words, but that must've been another Michael!  I applied for BCHS campuses, so I've yet to hear anything.

It was! Haha I told Ashley Ferris that Michael from AMR was at my interview and she said it had to be Michael Kearney, but I kept saying that wasn't it... But clearly she convinced me. Haha well, then I hope you hear soon and know that the other Michael from AMR interviewed as well and he did great, so you should as well! Haha sorry!!

Ah, yeah, Ashley knew I was applying.

Makes me wonder which other Michael is pursuing PA school.  Hmmm...

Hey everyone,

I have been reading these forums for a while and looked through 2013 as well. I finally created an account today so I could start posting on this forum. Also watched the video above... worth watching.

I was invited for the Nov 18th interview conference. For the ones that already been through the process.. any words of advice? Anything that stood out that you may want to share?

Any guidance or advice would be much appreciated.

Congrats to all that already made it and good luck to the rest.

*I would be happy to set up a meet and greet with whoever that are interested.*

Thanks everyone.
