Good luck everyone, I really hope to interview at one of the Texas schools. I am nervous because Texas LOVES Texas and being an out of state resident might be a real disadvantage. I called all of the schools, and they say that they show NO PREFERENCE to in state residents, but they mentioned that 90% or more of the applicants are from Texas, therefore most of the students are Texas grown. I hope to meet some of you on the interview trail.

This is my number 1 pick school, so I'm really excited and nervous! If anyone has heard any tips or suggestions about the interviews there please share. Good luck to you all! Thanks!

I submitted my CASPA application on May 24th and submitted my supplemental application as soon as they sent it to me. I think it was in June sometime.

So after I did all the mystar business, I received an email saying, "Your application is now in the Physician Assistant department for review. Please allow several weeks to months for the review process. We will notify you when the review is final."

That was 9 days ago and I got my interview email today. Good luck to you!!

Hi mlyly90,

How was the interview process at UTMB? I have been informed that it is a rotating interview process, but is it more laid back than people would expect? Also, were there a lot of situational or ethical questions?

I know that you are in the didactic phase of PA school, but do you know what types of patients and illnesses you will encounter on rotations in that region? Will you get a lot of hands-on experience? Also, would you say that it is easy to communicate with your professors and make study groups?

Thank you for your help! :=D:

What all had to be done with mystar? I logged in and there was nothing in the "To do" list and it said application complete. Should we recieve another e-mail after the 3 about mystar login information to say out application is being reviewed?

You should receive an email stating that your application is in the PA Department for review. Mine came about 7 business days after the 3 Mystar emails.

Mine was opposite. My 3 Mystar emails came first...and then the email came in about my app being in the PA Department for review.

I received my MyStar emails on July 9th and on July 24th I received an offer to interview. I think it just depends on the wave of applications they have to get through.

Hi PAs as Pre-PAs: I am fortunate enough to say that I have a choice of PA programs to choose from- Emory and Duke. I have visited both schools during the interview, and both are impressive. I’ll be moving with my husband, who will need to find a job wherever we end up, and it seems like Atlanta may have more opportunities for jobs in his field (landscape architecture). I’m thrilled but a bit stumped as to which to choose. I’d sincerely appreciate some insight from those that are familiar with the programs. What would be on your pro and con list? Thank you!

Hello future classmates!  Just thought I’d get this going so we can get familiar and bounce ideas off each other.

So my graduation date is slowly approaching, and I have been looking into becoming a PA for the past year or so and I have decided I want to go for it. My question is not about classes or GPA but just about the timeline in general about how and when to apply.
I am graduating Fall 2018, so my main question is, should I wait to apply until I have actually physically graduated and apply for the 2019 cycle? Or can I begin applying next year in 2018 since I only have one semester left? I remember in high school, we can start applying for universities during our last year of high school, so I am wondering if it works the same way for this? I have searched everywhere, and all I get is general deadlines, nothing as specific as my question.
      ANYTHING HELPS! Thanks!

      Hi all,
I'm currently in the interview process, and I'm somewhat confused about how to manage acceptances (should they come...). My first interview is in a week, the next one is in 2 weeks, and a top choice program, which I haven't heard back from yet, doesn't start interviews until late-October. (Still waiting to hear from a few more programs, too.)
So, do prospective PA students in this position just make deposits as necessary to hold places in programs they're interested in as acceptances come in, if they're still waiting to hear back from their first or second choices? Is it really disrespectful to accept an offer from a program, make the deposit, and then change your mind, or is this just an expected part of the process? If I'm offered an October interview for that top choice program, I could theoretically end up paying deposits to 3 separate programs, which seems absurd... Granted, the chances I'd actually get 3 acceptances are probably low, but even 2 would be tricky.
      What am I missing?
      Thank you :)
