JohnnyLAX9
I currently work in a pain management practice in Oregon and will be moving to a family medicine practice in Washington. I have done a few botox injections like for migraines and a few for dystonias. My question is: Is this something I can continue to do this when I move to family medicine or do I have to stop because nobody in the family medicine practice does botox? Mayamom
I worked with a DO in family practice. He provided Botox injections but for cosmetic reasons only.
sas5814
You will need to know what your state laws but, generally, you can't perform a procedure your SP isn't certified or qualified to perform. This will vary state to state.
Reality Check 2
It also depends on the state's delegation authority. If the SP is required on your state license and has to delegate this in a Practice Agreement then that could occur but I agree with Scott, need to ask questions about if your doc has to have the same skills. iconic
Just teach the doc how to do it if they don't know how. I had surgeons admit to me they learned stuff on YouTube. See one, do one, teach one..
