Corporate greed

Recommended Posts

Having a bit of an issue at my work place

Seems that keeping the PA/NP separated to keep the pay low   ie highly experienced is paid a whopping 6k more then a brand new grad.....  benefits seem to be handed out on a case by case basis

What stories of corporate greed have you seen??

What is the solution?

Giving docs 50% of the RVU of every PA chart for merely cosigning the charts, which is not even a state requirement. If they "saw the pt" (stuck their head in the door and said" everything ok"?) they got 75%  for "directing the care" This was at a large inner city trauma center with 20+ docs and 20+ PAs. We figured out that the PAs bought each doc in the group a BMW every year AND paid for their $600,000 house if they worked there for 20 years.  We also staffed a satellite facility that the docs never set foot in and each one of the docs got a bonus from that place as well for "being available to provide oversight by phone" (we never called them). They also had a PA wage that never changed. New grads and PAs with 30+ years of experience made the same.

I no longer work there. Put in 15 years, got my 401 k and left. Much happier now.

My second job out of the Army was for a large local hospital system. They paid the PAs poorly but "supervising physicians" got $25 for ever patient we saw. We typically booked 24 to 26 a day and, at that time, docs were limited to 5 PAs max.

So the docs could make 3k a day and never touch a patient if they were close to maxed out on "supervision".

Corporate greed - I'm raising my rents again next year.  Good socialists/marxists think I'm evil.

Of course, I didn't apply for any of the PPP loan/grants...

A real example of corporate greed:  USACS buys out VEP, promises we should get paid more because no more RVU bonus cap.  But with the completely opaque way USACS measure RVU's it turns out we all get about a 20% pay cut.

I guess someone has to pay for the $400K salary for the three new Vice Presidents of Corporate Dumbassery, Exclusion, and Idiocy (DEI).

Details please.

Wish I could, but can't talk about cases for obvious reasons.  Let me just say this as a general rule.....If a corporate overlord states that you should keep your lidocaine and use it after its expiration date?....Think very carefully before you comply.  Also, if those same corporate overlords order you to see and treat patients with obvious "X-Ray requiring" illnesses or injuries without having an X-Ray tech there to shoot the film (Because they ...just...can't...find...one (I really mean pay them)?  Be very careful what you do next.  Writing a script for an X-Ray and giving it to grandma with wrist pain or hip pain or neck pain s/p a fall and then sending her out the door with an unstable fracture AFTER YOU HAVE NOW ESTABLISHED CARE.........is not going to end well for them OR you.  Just saying....generally speaking........

Wow... I'm assuming this is happening at more than one facility.
