CaliforniaKid
I was asked to volunteer at a local Covid vaccine distribution event as a provider to either administer the vaccine or monitor patients after receiving the vaccine. Does anyone have any experience regarding liability while doing this? It would be through the local health department, not the company that I work for. MediMike
My wife was doing this, my suggestion would be to clear it with whoever your collaborating physician is or see if the event coordinator has a CP for you to temporarily sign on with.
CAAdmission
What Mike said. Make sure you don't run afoul of your state's "supervision" laws. It's great to help out, but don't needlessly expose yourself to legal trouble. Another good reason to get rid of dumb supervision requirements.
GetMeOuttaThisMess
Can’t even do ding-dong fit testing for my wife’s DH program in spite of still having an active license.
sas5814
How do you fit test a ding-dong? Pictures and/or diagrams would be appreciated.
Cideous
I was turned down for Covid testing a while back. They cited our "supervision requirements" as assistants.

I saw a notice in the local area where they were soliciting nursing students to help. Not licensed RNs, students. And a PA with years of experience can't. Strange world. CaliforniaKid
https://www.gov.ca.gov/2021/01/27/governor-newsom-signs-executive-order-to-help-bolster-states-vaccination-efforts-1-27-21/ Looks like this would cover it, although PAs conveniently not directly listed in the actual document linked at the bottom, unlike some others... If we're not listed we're not covered.
bobuddy
I have tried to volunteer with vaccine administration only to be told that PA's can not participate due to supervision issues. I have worked in FP/ER/Cardiology and Pediatrics over the course of 22 years. I give vaccines in clinic all day for well child checks, etc. So, essentially due to our antiquated laws, I still need to be "supervised" while my pharmacy friends - that have never laid hands on a patient EVER - are getting paid to give vaccines today. I am so beyond disgusted right now
