TTUSCH 2016-2017 Admissions Cycle

Recommended Posts

The entire economy in Midland is VERY dependent on Oil! It is true that a couple years ago the cost of living in Midland was insane. But since then, Oil has dropped significantly which means cost of living has decreased as well! The most popular apartment among the class is Sundance Creek. There are many nice apartment complexes in Midland to choose from, however. Make sure you call apartment complexes to get prices- a lot of the time the prices are incorrect online. If you want to live alone, a usual price to pay is about $800-$900 a month (which is really not that bad). Many of the students decided to room together to save on cost! There are also houses to rent around the area. Right now, housing is rather reasonable, but the market can change quickly based on oil. Happy hunting and let me know if you have anymore questions!

P.S. Ask apartment complexes about getting a student discount and make sure to "refer" your friends if people from your class decide to live at the same place.

I got in too! How do students usually find roommates? Is there a facebook page for admitted students? Not sure if  i want a roommate, but it would sure help with the cost.

Does anyone know how alternate positions work? / how small are my chances of actually getting in? Thanks!

I interviewed on 12 Sept and it was mentioned that they put 70 people on the waitlist and actually went into the 50's when they were offering people seats last cycle. So it's very likely that there's a good chance.

Yes I believe so. The next one is the 22nd of September. Those are the only ones I know for certain. The previous interviews have been August 22, 25, September 1,6,12.

The upcoming interview dates are:

Thursday, Sept. 22

Thursday, Sept. 29

Thursday, October 20

Monday, October 31

I don't know if there are any after that, but as I understand it, those are scheduled.

I just wanted to add I interviewed in late August, found out I got rejected two weeks later right before my UTSW interview. I was super bummed. Two days after my interview at UTSW, I found out I was accepted there! Just wanted to remind everyone not to give up hope if you don't get accepted to certain schools. I think it's all about how you would fit in the program and I suppose Tech saw me as someone who may not enjoy their program as much. Best of luck to everyone!

Thanks for that! It's so hard not to get discouraged through this. This is my first time applying; I seriously underestimated how emotionally taxing it would be! And congrats on being accepted! That's awesome :D

Hi everyone! I was wondering if invites have already been sent out to the later interview dates. I have not heard news from Texas Tech yet, and have high hopes of still being in the running. Does anyone know what the chances are of getting an interview at this point? Thanks.

Actually on their website it says they are planning on holding interviews possibly through March. So for anyone else who has been getting a little nervous I found this to be very reassuring news:) Good luck to everyone interviewing, and still hoping to receive one!
