  2. Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone on here has used Picmonic. If so, what did you think? Is it worth the cost? I'm just wondering cuz there's a sale on and I'm considering the purchase... TIA
  3. Hi guys, just wanted to start a thread for Hardin-Simmons' 2016-2017 application cycle. This is a developing program with the first class to matriculate next year! I read that interviews will be in November. Any more info about this school/program would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  4. I interviewed 9/1 and just got an acceptance email at 930 this morning! Holy cow, I can't believe it!
  5. Where do you go for your rotations? Is it mostly the surrounding hospitals and clinics? Anywhere to get good critical medical/trauma experience?
  6. While winding down the pre-op area of outpatient surgery, a worried mother and father unexpectedly arrived with their young son from the emergency room. While eating cashews, the young boy, John, began choking and aspirated a piece of the nuts. He was unsuccessfully trying to cough it up and needed surgery to remove it. John was uncomfortable but not as nervous as his parents. As we prepared the young boy, the surgeon introduced his team including a physician assistant. As a patient care technician interested in a career as a PA, it excited me that PAs could play such a significant part of the
  7. Anybody else hear anything about more interview dates or are they all done?
  8. At the time of my application, only 400 hours HCE and about 10 months of hospice volunteering. Oh and I went on a medical mission trip as well. Congrats on the interview!
  9. Hello PA Admissions, I was wondering what the admissions committees think if an applicant applies one year, skips the next year's cycle (due to a family move, job change, and not enough time to build new relationships for LORs), and then applies the year after that. Would the gap in application cycles look bad? I would also plan on taking an EMT course or something else to build my resume in that time. Thanks so much!
  10. So sorry about your rejection. UNT is also my top pick and I'm still in the deadly, silent wait! Would you mind sharing your stats: HCE, GPA, etc. so I can see if I'm heading in the right direction? This was my first year applying.
  11. also got my rejection. i know my HCE was lacking but i'm also wondering what they're looking for in candidates.
  12. I have e-submitted and have been verified but only 2 of the 4 schools I put codes in for on the day of testing are currently showing up in the "Official Tests" section. Luckily, one of those is my first choice but I'm wondering why the other 2 haven't posted. I've checked the codes over and over so I know I put them in correctly. Do they only show up when the school requests it? Has this happened to anyone else? I couldn't find anything about it in the instructions or threads. Thanks so much!
  13. Ok! Now I understand how to read the columns. Allegro, your explanation did make sense! Total+Postbacc=Cum undergrad and also Cum undergrad=Overall. Thanks so much for the clarification!
  14. I had a question about my CASPA calculated GPA. It shows the post bacc GPA and undergrad GPA but a few rows below, the overall GPA is the same as the undergrad GPA in all three categories (science, non-science, total). It's as if they didn't actually combine the two postbacc and undergrad GPAs together. Is this normal or should I contact CASPA to possibly correct that? Thanks for any help
