prePAmom
This thread is so informative for all of us who are applying and hope to get into PA school. A couple of the last few posts have been by people who are posting what they've submitted to PA schools, even though they have not yet been accepted. Imagine how incomplete this thread would be if everyone did that--leaving the rest us to appreciate everyone's accomplishments, but not knowing whether or not those statistics were good enough for acceptance? I think the point is to post once you've been accepted so we can all see who the schools are counting as competitive applicants. I hope to get to post my stats here soon and I don't mean to offend anyone. :)
prePAmom
:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: The purpose of this thread is to post your stats once you've been accepted or denied, not before. Good luck to all who are applying this cycle, but consider it a rite of passage on the forum to get to post your stats once you've been accepted or denied. I'm not a moderator so perhaps I'm overstepping my bounds. Maybe I'm alone on this one...but review the pages. The point is to post only once you know something--otherwise the thread is pointless. lapelirroja
I kinda agree. This isn't like MDApps people... Maybe a mod will come through and clean it up. EDIT: Just re-read the first few pages of the thread--it seems back in good ole '05 some people were doing the same thing, but I still think it's not too useful to update without having any results. I think it would be interesting for future applicants if a website such as "mdapps.com" existed for pre-PA students...although the pre-meds do sometimes get vicious it's actually a helpful tool for those applying. xxbowiexx
I feel responsible for posting my info a bit early. My intention is to come back and update the rest of the info once it's appropriate. jkoepp
It's nice for those of us who are applying to know what other stats look like....thanks for being the mod though :-)
Guest WhoCares
Perhaps there could be a separate stats thread reserved for applicants who have been accepted, in the Student section. As this thread is in the pre-PA section, it would seem logical that it could include stats of current applicants. Jkoepp raises a good point, that it's probably nice to be able to see stats of others who are applying. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is concerning any posters who have applied and been denied, should there be a separate 'denied' stats thread? There are some who are denied but still accepted into other schools, so they would presumably post in a PA-S thread. Am I thinking too much again? xxbowiexx
Upon further review, i believe my original post is in accordance to the Original Poster's (OP) intention. Notice that his first post does not state whether he has been accepted or not.
prePAmom
...Notice that his first post does not state whether he has been accepted or not. Exactly. Which is why he didn't post his stats. And he also wrote that the intent of the thread was to cut down on the "what are my chances" type of threads. You can only tell what your chances are if you compare yourself to the applicants before you who have been accepted or denied. I am one of you (applying this cycle). I could post my stats now and everyone would think, "Ooooh she's really competitive" or maybe "Wow, she'll never get in with that GPA" but until I get accepted or denied and then post my stats it's all just a bunch numbers that mean nothing to the reader. Seriously, it's okay either way. I'm not losing sleep over this. :DThe overall trend (over the entire course of the thread) has been for people to post with stats once they know something definitive and it seems to me to be the most helpful that way. I do suppose it would be interesting to see the stats of someone applying to the same school as I am....hmmmmm....At any rate, in the grand scope of things it's not that big of a deal. If people continue to post what they've submitted before they know an answer, I'll just scroll to the ones I'm most interested in. :)
scut-monkey
OK--getting back to you folks on the issue regarding this thread... Seems that if you wait long enough, a decision is made for you, or in this case for me. Someone was kind enough to start a new thread regarding prospective PA students who haven't been accepted to PA school yet. For those of you who are just reading this thread for the first time, and are confused, I have moved the prospective PA students who haven't been accepted, but who wanted to post their stats to the new thread, which I have made into a "sticky." Thanks for everyone's patience regarding this matter. Scut-monkey
