As for myself, I think my LOR's and my interview saved my butt. A challenging undergrad ed may have also helped me as well. Just think positive. It's possible. I got pissed and spent the last 3 years working on it. Not fun but it taught me a lot about how to deal with failure.) Science Undergrad. GPA: Don’t know exacts, but higher than Cumulative Age at application time: 21 1st GRE: 1100 cumulative but I don’t remember the break down. If you take it STUDY, I did not take it serious enough. Direct Patient Care: (type & hours) 7 seasons (1000 hrs. is what I listed for CASPA) of volunteer ski patrol. Lots of trauma, but few medical calls. It never failed to amaze me what people will due to themselves when they combined alcohol, some slippery boards strapped to their feet, and a hill cover in Michigan powder (aka ice that you can see through). Extracurricular/Research Activities: 100 hrs. of volunteering at an ER, Huge help in making the decision to become a PA. I was not able to see a lot, but little direct patient care. 20 hrs. Shadowing a few different Physician Assistants 1 year: Tutor for Clinical Nutrition and Bio Chem. (I hated inorganic and organic, loved bio chem. go figure) 1 year: Laboratory assistant for GVSU Microbiology lab. 1 year: Pre-PA club treasure/ member, it was a great way to meet people interested in the same field and going through the same things. Schools Applied: GVSU, Central Michigan University, University of New England Application Submitted Date: Aug. for CASPA and Sept. for GVSU (2005) Interview Invites: GVSU, CMU Denied: University of New England Accepted: CMU and GVSU-attending GVSU class of 2009 GVSU is the odd ball not using CASPA, but there app. is easy and cheep.
