If you are located/from WWAMI how are you supposed to answer these two questions? I feel like these questions are unfairly asking two questions. 7018BFDF-B0B6-4291-A12B-B59FB3363A3F.jpeg.3164c74b2913eaaa8c3a297e48aaf4cb.jpeg

You can still apply, about 20 percent are out of region.

Regional Connection

MEDEX is a regional program committed to educating students from Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho (WWAMI), and from the state of Hawaii. The percentage of students accepted in 2022 from the WWAMI region is 72.1%.  This breakout includes: 48.4% Washington, 6.2% Alaska, 3.1% Montana, 3.1% Idaho, and 11.2% Hawaii.

Thanks for your response. I am local and applying but I thought these questions are a bit confusing. The first part of the question says I am not from WWAMI (I am from one of these areas) but the second part of the questions address different concerns. Yes, I have interest in working with the underserved in rural areas and yes, I would like to stay in the area to work. Does that make sense?

I marked yes on both as I'm not "from" WWAMI but have lived in Alaska for 20 years. IMO they are looking for those who will stay in the region. Looking back it can be confusing because I've been in the region for 20 but not born or raised here

It is a convoluted question but bc I’m in the area I said no….. figured the questions that asked if I am connected would justify my nos.
