State Society Push!! OTP

So the momentum is building

I (like others) have been fairly disappointed with AAPA in the past, but they are slowly getting it together.

We now have a new name and an OTP campaign

FOUR states allow for independence with various qualifiers

It is time to support your state advocacy to help fund these changes.

If we can get a avalanche of support and momentum we can hopefully make this a quick process. Think giving 100-200/year to your state board.

BUT make sure your board is in support and aggressively going after OTP.  If they are not - well then RUN FOR THE BOARD.

We are at a transitional time.  If we can mobilize and get change we can preserve our profession - with out this there is the possibility that we get left behind by NPs as they are rapidly gaining ground....

Still waiting on our legislators to pass their budget. Due April 1st...extended three or so times already. Hopefully this isn't one of the years where we wait until August.

The lateness is definitely not about PA's; it's housing, charter schools, bail, etc.

LOL.  NP's can hang a shingle on day one and we are somehow excited about OTP......wow.

It is our only choice.   And honestly no way it is safe for an NP should hang a shingle with less than 5 yrs experience.   It is okay if we get staged independence as all BS aside it is protecting society!!

I am for graduated independence, the problem is that most of these bills don't lead there at all

Agreed! OTP (like many of us suspected) can get in the way of FPA...most state societies will take any bone thrown at them...most of them were never for FPA anyway.

We got OTP or some version of it in California... We have replaced "Supervision" with "Collaboration" and we do not require "Specific" Physician oversight... This happened about 4 years ago... No talk of independence, graduated or otherwise. We are resting on our proverbial laurels... The enemy of great is good enough...
