open house dress and etiquette

Recommended Posts

Always err on the formal side. I would wear business attire.

If you get there and everyone (including faculty) is in business casual, just remove your jacket. If you get there and the students are dressed in sweatpants but the faculty are in business attire, YOU are correct and should be confident in your professionalism.

Thank you both for your responses. I had figured as much but as I do not currently own a suit jacket I was hoping I could wait until interview time to buy a suit. I have just re statrted working out and am hoping to need a smaller size come interview time.

I think for an open house pants and a nice shirt/tie would be plenty appropriate.  I wouldn't go out and buy a jacket just for an open house if it won't fit come interview time.
