moy505
For those in surgery, what do you call the days when you arent in the OR? Do you just call it "clinic" or something?

winterallsummer
A good day. If in hospital: rounding day. If in office: clinic day.

Moderator EMEDPA Posted July 10, 2015 Moderator Share Posted July 10, 2015 surgical folks generally split their time between the O.R., clinic, and hospital rounds with endless combinations of what happens on what days...oh, and call after hours too...there is a reason I don't work in surgery....besides the fact I can't stand still for 3-6 hours at a time and not be able to eat, stretch, go to the bathroom, etc when I want to... andersenpa
Every surgical position defines the duties differently. As EMEDPA says, It's usually one of 3 things- OR, hospital/inpatient rounds, and clinic. (of course not forgetting days off) After years of doing this, there is a physiologic conditioning that tells my body that I can't go to the bathroom, eat, or scratch my nose for the next 5 hrs! greenmood
Clinic days. We round twice per day every day no matter what's on the schedule, so it's more useful for us to differentiate based on where the surgeon will be the bulk of the day.
