Agree we Scott and RC2 above. Passing as well, but it is a terrible test. A lot of "fist actions" that are done in reality are not even options. I also had to look up a lot of weird meds that I have never heard of ( and I used to teach pharm to first year PA students).
Awful test. I think the answer is to allow a CAQ in one's specialty to count for recert purposes.
I see you have 10/10 pain from your hangnail, are allergic to all non-opiate pain medications and get a rash from morphine. Please proceed to the pharmacy to pick up your box of fentanyl patches, and have a nice day.
We are using an add on app called PowerMic mobile, which is a phone-based app specific to each user. It does what dragon is supposed to do. I actually really like it. You log into dragon then launch the app and talk into your phone and it shows up on your screen. Very few typos.
Agree- A specialty CAQ significantly increases your desirability as a new hire.
We don't hire anyone without the EM CAQ (or eligibility and intent to test) at this point.
Love this. Kinda like " slow is smooth and smooth is fast". Had an EM doc tell me that once when I was rushing an intubation and I have never forgotten it.
If your goal is just to get DMSc after your name, then the fastest and cheapest will do the trick. You get out of these what you put into them. I have seen some folks spend 1 hr/week on their doctoral studies and others spend 20. They get the same degree. The 20 hr guy gets more out of it.
