whoRyou
I am considering taking a whole year off to get a certificate as a surgical tech. So, my question to you all is, can I use my clinical hours as a student to gain HCE or do I have to wait ‘til I graduate and if so how would I document it? Some schools don't count training hrs, but hrs that are paid and upon graduation of the certification program. You just simply record how many hrs per week you work as a surgical tech, and when it comes time to the app, add up the total hrs. Some programs may require documentation. Also, a good note. Some schools are more lenient with HCE - specifically stating on their website that they either don't require HCE, require very little and/or count shadowing/volunteer hrs as HCE. Every school is different, but at the end of the day being a surgical tech will be your best option for all schools due to competition.
SopranoKris
Depends on the program you want to apply to. Most programs want paid HCE hours only.
