SaraRAi
I work under one supervising doctor. If he is planning to go on vacation, am I allowed to see patients provided that he is available by phone at all times? Is this a correct interpretation? NAC 630.370 "Except as otherwise required in subsection 3 or 4, the supervising physician shall review and initial selected charts of the patients of the physician assistant. Unless the physician assistant is performing medical services pursuant to NAC 630.375, the supervising physician must be available at all times that his or her physician assistant is performing medical services to consult with his or her assistant. Those consultations may be indirect, including, without limitation, by telephone."
AbeTheBabe
That's always been the case for me here in California. In the past when I worked with a single surgeon, we would try not go to on vacation at the same time so one of us is still in clinic holding down the fort. LKPAC
Tell you doc to keep his cell phone in his pocket. That way, he's available. Edited January 4, 2022 by LKPAC

Moderator ventana Posted January 4, 2022 Moderator Share Posted January 4, 2022 I have had doc's in Mexico, Europe, Caribbean, VT, and West Coast while I manned the home ship..... make sure that telephone access is sufficient with your state board, and if so practice away Then join your state PA agency and actively lobby to remove such antiquated rules! 1
