Trauma patient in solo mva with multiple rollovers. Pretty messed up and transferred to regional trauma center. 

ME: Sir, your blood alcohol is more than twice the legal limit

Pt: Doc, I didn't start drinking until after the accident. I saw my car was totaled and I had a six pack so I hit it pretty hard before the cops and ambulance arrived. 

I didn't buy it. Neither did the officer at the bedside.

Creative, but still no.

Or, the patient who says "I was worried about how my breath might smell, so I took a hit of mouthwash before the officer made me take a portable breath test.  It was it alcohol in the mouthwash that caused it to read so high."

This is why you recheck after 20”.  In a normal adult male it will take an hour for them to clear 0.2 of their BAC, so I seem to recall from my BAT training a decade or so back.
