TWR
So DRE is no good, PSA is not recommended. Does anyone use prostate bio markers and if so when is it recommended? Thanks
Moderator ventana Posted April 15, 2018 Moderator Share Posted April 15, 2018 DRE is not all bad. Is up to a discussion. PSA. Nope. Just talking and education on prostate obstructive s/s.
GetMeOuttaThisMess
I would add that a DRE can also be helpful IF the exam is performed by the same provider year to year. We each have our own perceptions for normal/abnormal which may not be consistent with another provider. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

DRE yearly, however the newer tests are not all that valuable and help massage the risk when faced with a elevated PSA, in fact many of them use total and free PSA as the bulk of the diagnostic value in their algorithm. I find them useful only in the equivocal cases. But ask any Urologist, PSA is definitely recommended
