In a giant corporate model (i.e. scheduling is done offsite for dozens of clinics), your schedule is all over the place. One of the places I locum at, their schedules are never the same week to week (thus they have a LOT of turnover, which is why I have a job lol :D ) . Needless to say, I prefer the every other weekend model, but you need to have a reliable partner for it to work. If you get someone opposite of you that is calling in sick all the time or can't work because "their kid is sick", then it becomes an exercise in frustration.
