Presenting idea to administrative staff tomorrow of bringing in part-time PA for 10a-1p walk-in hours M-F at an employee clinic. Need would be Oct-Mar (majority of school year). Population is employees and dependants 2y/o>. Think Minute-Clinic type setup seeing snot/cough, flu, rashes, school PE/camp physicals, and assessment of overnight GI sx/weekend MS soft tissue injuries (few of these since we don't advertise this component) for need of additional more immediate assessment through SP's FM walk-in clinics or UC/ED where X-rays, lab, etc. available. No procedures, immunizations, splinting, or GYN. Labs are UA, RS, flu, and mono. Anything else sent to PCP. Thinking flat hourly pay rate and malpractice is claims-made through employer.Ideal setting for moms with school age kids or folks looking to ride off into sunset. Adds to kids college funds or summer off vacations. Two weeks off during Christmas school break and recommending pay during this time window to mgmt..Comments? Reality Check 2 Posted August 23, 2016 Share Posted August 23, 2016 I have a full time job and would be interested in per diem on weekends here and there to make some extra cash. Currently looking in my neck of the woods for some per diem work. I could never work seasonally though - as the main breadwinner in our household. I don't really know anyone who could work those months only. Grew up in North Texas, born and raised - went to school there. Moved to the land of snow. Don't miss tornadoes and 100+ heat or the Dallas highways. Those jobs sound like they might work for someone though. Flexibility means a lot to folks. All holidays off (Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years, Good Friday with Easter if applicable) and extended days off at Thanksgiving and Christmas. $50/hr. Employer is Dallas suburban ISD. Malpractice is clinic umbrella coverage, C-M based. PM me if interested or have questions. Position will be open to NP applicants as well but position previously filled by another PA. There may be potential for full-time in future if volume increases and we show need for two FT providers. SP's are associated with local FM well known mega-network and are off-site but available for in-office referral if pt. needs further assessment. IF it goes back to a FT position with current salary range (not hourly) and bennies (insert pension here) then it'll have MC beat hands down. Not trying to defend employer. It is what it is. They'll end up with an NP in this position most likely. Who needs other benefits when you get to work with me for a couple of years for goodness sakes! I can show you Hawaiian real estate pics! Easy peasy money for someone if they apply over next couple of days. Could become FT in future again if you're interested in same. Not ideal for a new grad IMO due to limited scope, though really not any different from specializing and not seeing primary care cases. Position posted at GarlandISD.net. Anticipate it being in mid-$50/hr. rate Full benefits including health/dental/vision/malpractice/pension eligibility and other cafeteria type options. I would like to take this schedule at my hourly rate and allow the new hire to assume my full-time 236 day annual schedule at the end of the school year (gives us a chance to evaluate individual first) and maintain their same hourly rate, thus more annual income. Limited scope of primary care practice and I think a new grad would do fine in this but could become bored after a couple of years. I think $99K would be more than acceptable. Comments?
