FSUnoles
what exactly is the upward mobility of being a doctor? i seriously thought about this after reading it the other day...money of course but i can imagine there are PAs out there who pull over 100K and i think i saw once 200K (how? is the question :) but besides that...title? im asking because i genuinely want to understand how working PAs feel about their place in the medical world interested in what specialty the 200k person was in? FSUnoles
EM. he works with me but works ridiculous hrs, like 25 shifts/mo. whoa that sounds like a one way ticket to burn out city. not sure it would be worth the money (unless you only do it for a year or so to save up for home/pay off loans)

Moderator EMEDPA Posted June 22, 2011 Moderator Share Posted June 22, 2011 what do you mean when you say "rural"? my rural per diem job is in a small community hospital( a critical access hospital) 3 hrs from my home. I work there 1 weekend/month. if they had a full time job for me there I would be tempted to take it. currently they only staff pa's on the weekends/holidays when the volume is higher. Yes I have my bad days and patients that sometimes I wish I didn't have to see. But overall, it's great. How have you been able to work in so many different specialties? What's your secret? I would LOVE to have that much mobility!
