Equipment Questions for Current Students!

Hey everyone! I was looking through the list of equipment we need and I was wondering if you could shed light on how much you use it/how necessary it is to get the super expensive oto/optha scope combo kits? Many of my mentors have told me not to buy anything but a stethoscope until I get to school, but I do not want to be the person coming to class unprepared! Any advice would be appreciated!

I know some of the Yakima people shared with us that most of them got a welch allyn set for between $100-200. Amazon had some good prices. They also said that it is essential.

You won't need it in the summer qtr. We do use our equipment from pretty early on (like day 1) in the fall qtr, though, so you'll have to have it by then. People in my class have a wide variety from pricey to not, and it all works just fine. I personally have one of those convertible handle Welch Allyns and I kinda wish I had something smaller since I'm used to using lighter equipment.
