Southpawmedic PA-C Posted January 1, 2013 Share Posted January 1, 2013 Have any of you traveled to areas such as Haiti to provide medical care on a mission trip? Since I'm only in my first year of school I know it's some time away from happening. Who needs to be contacted, what needs to be done, etc? SCHMITTIE120 Posted January 1, 2013 Share Posted January 1, 2013 No one needs to be contacted in Haiti if you are going through an established group. Haiti does not regulate their medical providers so essentially anyone can set up shop as a healthcare provider (ex. Haitian trained nurses calling themselves a physician and working by themselves. I know several PAs that work full-time in Haiti, two of them work with a physician and the other works completely on their own in a very rural mountain clinic.
