pa456
I was just curious as to whether some schools look at x number of hours (or months/years) spent doing one thing, like working as an EMT or nurse for example, as more favorable health care experience than the same amount of time spent working as a medical assistant or cna. Thanks.
cinntsp
Different schools value different types of HCE but generally anything with hand-on patient care is a considered ideal.
Moderator EMEDPA Posted January 3, 2012 Moderator Share Posted January 3, 2012 school with a primary care focus like medical assistant experience. schools with a surg. focus like surg tech. others schools like military medics. all depends on the program. LESH
I have only seen a few programs that had a rating system like the OP described. I don't know it they still do.
kerryc
EMEDPA - I have seen on Wake Forest's website where they prefer certain professions (RN, medic etc...). Just wondering if you know of any programs that look for the "non-traditional student"? My current goal is to obtain my PA and work in cardiology - do you have any advice, as far as speciality, for a medic? I'm finishing my B.S. in Biology and have spent 4 years as a paramedic, 9 years active duty Marine prior to getting my paramedic. Just wanted to say Thank you as well, for your time and all the info you post for everyone on here.
