IR: Good for New-Grad PAs?

most places train folks on the job for IR.

if that is your dream job by all means do it but be aware that you need to maintain your primary care knowledge base for future testing.

all the folks I know who went into IR either did it right out of school and intend to do it forever or did it much later in the careers.

IR can be fun, but it is no way anything to do with dx thought or treatment - 100% procedural based, you get paid to do things, it is very fun, and rewarding, but it is not a broad based field. 

 

I would be very hesitant to come out of school and go into IR - you will forget the medicine and the possibility that your first job will be your forever job is very small.

 

Get a good medicine or surgical job with a good mentor as the first job
