medic25
EMS career opportunities are not something that is frequently advertised for PAs, so when I saw this posting I wanted to share it; they are considering other professions besides PAs, but its great that we are listed, and it would be great to see a PA in the role. The City of Philadelphia Fire Department is seeking a new Assistant Deputy Commisioner of EMS. This is essentially an Assistant Medical Director Position. They are looking for a PA, APN, CEN or CCEMT-P to fill the position. http://www.phila.gov/personnel/jobs/exempt/PFD_AsstDptCmmerEMS.pdf

Moderator True Anomaly Posted February 16, 2017 Moderator Share Posted February 16, 2017 I moved away from Philly almost 3 years ago, and I'm never going back. And I think I had told y'all in the past, but I never even completed the EMS fellowship that was set up for me for many various reasons. Now, if I was still in Philly, and considering my old hospital still had an EMS division, I would've been much more inclined to go for this. medic25
This job sounds amazing! Not sure I'd want to move to Philly with a 1yo though Same issue here. The city residency requirement likely means a lot of years of private school to pay for... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Moderator True Anomaly Posted February 19, 2017 Moderator Share Posted February 19, 2017 I loved my time in Philly, but I'm happy to be out of there. The pay is poor, especially considering the cost of living, and it is a HIGHLY litigious practice environment
ajnelson
I loved my time in Philly, but I'm happy to be out of there. The pay is poor, especially considering the cost of living, and it is a HIGHLY litigious practice environment This may be better pay (or at least a better overall package) than a typical PA job. And I'd assume less litigation as well. I'd love to be closer to some of my family and friends as well. But, living in the city with an infant and having to worry (and pay) for school in the near future is a huge turn off for this job for me. Someday maybe I'll find a job like this [emoji846]
