purplehc
So I took the GRE a while back and am happy with my verbal (160, 85%) and quantitative (158, 71%) scores, but i tanked the writing section (3.5, 38%) Would it be worth it to retake the GRE just to boost my writing score? Would a low score keep me out of a program? For the schools that do require the GRE has anyone heard of automated cutoffs?
ONE40pt6
Your scores are fine. I had 320 combined and a 3.0 on the written. I've seen other feedback on the topic that points out that if your PS looks to be written by a Pulitzer Prize winner, and you scored a 3 on the GRE it is a red flag. Good Luck! Believe
I wouldn't retake unless a program specifically states they want a 4.0 on writing. I had something like a 306 combined and 3.5 writing and it was never an issue brought up during interviews.
