LOR Etiquette

So, here's my situation. I have two out of three LORs who have finished and submitted their letters. I'm looking to submit early (like mid-May). I have one LOR who has not started or completed his letter, has not responded to my initial email (with instructions and a brief bio sort of thing to aid in writing the letter), and has not responded to a gentle follow-up email (asking him simply to verify that he received the CASPA email).

 

My options:

 

1) Submit with or without him and hope he gets it in before the application deadline in November (lol).

 

2) Remove him and use another LOR writer (I have another equally good if not better one, although his reliability is also somewhat suspect).

 

What do you guys think?

use the alternate. maybe you will get both but as it looks now you will be short one.

Use someone else and offer to write the LOR for them that way you can submit it early

I have the same issue, I had to right the letter for the Doc. In the end it was not that hard bragging on myself! LOL!

Thanks, guys! That's how I felt, too, so glad to get some feedback. I've asked my "alternate" and I am hoping to hear back from him soon!
