CornellSPA
As you might have heard, International Medical Graduates can obtain a license to practice medicine in the state of TN without completing a US residency. Theory is it will help provide care to underserved populations. Will qualified hospitals and health centers offer IMGs jobs? Will they actually practice in Primary Care? Rumor is some are being paid the same salary as a resident (less than a PA!) Will this mean less jobs for PAs? https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/993693?form=fpf nejmp2310001 (1).pdf
Moderator EMEDPA Posted November 29, 2023 Moderator Share Posted November 29, 2023 I read the link. At least these are folks who have done 3 or more years of post medschool residency, unlike some states that just require graduation from medschool( i.e. those who could not match to a residency). CAAdmission
It's interesting that the presumption seems to be that physician training in any country is automatically superior to all PA training.

Having worked in a hospital with am IM residency staffed almost exclusively with FMG I can clearly state that is not the case. Some of these FMH are scary (excluding European countries)
