Deneo
I'm looking for a Bachelors / Masters combined program that is respected for their training in EM. Does anyone have any idea which of these programs is well respected for this training? OR do you have another "combined" program to suggest that is not listed? I am not location bound, so all suggestions are welcome. Rochester Institute of Technology Daemen College D'Youville College* King's College Mercy College Hofstra University Touro College Thanks for the help. cinntsp
You will get EM experience in every program. If you want additional rotations beyond the required one, go to a school that has an elective rotation.
Moderator EMEDPA Posted September 18, 2012 Moderator Share Posted September 18, 2012 you best bet for doing em as a pa is to do the following: 1.have significant em experience before pa school like paramedic, er nurse, RT, etc) 2.go to a program that allows you to have selectives(trauma surgery fulfills surgery requirement, peds er fulfills peds, etc). my program( hahnemann/drexel) did this so I ended up with 27 of 54 clinical weeks in em, peds em, and trauma surgery. 3. do a 12-18 mo em residency after pa school(see list at top of em forum) 4. join and become involved with sempa ( www.sempa.org)
c0untingstars
Listen to EMEDPA :) Also, Arcadia doesn't have an EM focus or anything but we do have a required 8 week EM rotation, and you have 3 4-week elective rotations, including things like trauma. You can also do pediatric ER for your peds. So that could potentially be half of your clinical year spent in EM/trauma.
