PAstudentInTheMaking
I finished high school in 2020, horrible year thanks to COVID. I’m in school right now, a nice community college working in prerequisites for pre nursing. I want to get started with becoming a PA but I don’t even know how to get started. SOS. Moderator EMEDPA Posted May 26, 2022 Moderator Share Posted May 26, 2022 You need some health care experience and you need good grades. As and Bs only if at all possible. The higher quality the experience the better. Make sure your classes meet PA school entry requirements. Many pre-nursing classes don't.
TheFatMan
Start off by taking a deep breath and relaxing. You have a long way to go before you'll be applying to PA school. Do some browsing on this site - lots of good information. Enjoy college. Do some volunteering and shadowing. Try to get a part time job working in healthcare at some point. Keep in mind that the profession was intended to be a 2nd career for people with a lot of healthcare experience so they could do an expedited version of medical school. The more quality experience you have beforehand the better off you will be. Many people don't start PA school until their late 20's (and often much later); this is a marathon and not a sprint. You'll be okay. 1
