currentPA
Hi all, I'm a new PA in emergency medicine, aka crippled with student loans. There are so many different professional organizations that I would want to join and I know they're important to join, but budget only allows for 1-2. My question is...which of the following would you rank highest in importance? State PA organization, AAPA, specialty specific (SEMPA and ACEP for me)? TIA! Moderator ventana Posted October 14, 2021 Moderator Share Posted October 14, 2021 Your state PA chapter - and donate to them AAPA - yup they are the ONLY one fighting for us in DC SEMPA Beyond that it is a mix - I always like to support those groups that recognize PAs a members and not just affiliate, second class members...... 1
CAAdmission
In many cases you might be able to get your employer to cover one or more memberships - it's worth asking...
ohiovolffemtp
SEMPA - only one that will contribute directly to personal growth. Conferences and emails very beneficial. State PA organization - their lobbying is what removes legal barriers to your practice. AAPA - however, some state organizations require AAPA membership, though less and less these days.
JEFTU
Join SEMPA. You can't be a member of ACEP nor do you want to.
