Friction
Do these exist? I was just watching a show on the QM2 and they had medical officers (not sure if they were docs) and nurses. Never mentioned anything about PAs but I thought that would be a cool gig for a couple years. Anyone have any ideas? HM3

TWR
I received an email back from Mike. He is an RN as well as a PA. Cruise ships hire MD's and RN's only. His position was as an RN. He is working on changing this. A looooong road.
surgblumm
I had no idea that he functioned in the role of an RN while doing the cruise ships. i will verify as we know each other for 20 years and I want to get it from the horses mouth. If correct, as I assume you are, it's disheartening. Bob
Moderator EMEDPA Posted July 19, 2012 Moderator Share Posted July 19, 2012 I will contact my buddy who worked for carnival. he was never an rn so he had some way to work as a pa. will let you all know.
Moderator EMEDPA Posted July 20, 2012 Moderator Share Posted July 20, 2012 I spoke with my friend who works on ships. at one point carnival used np's. he applied for a position and did not get it. instead he took a job working on a research vessel as on board medical staff. so, looks like a dead end for pa's working on cruise ships for the time being....
