Caspa and supplemental app. finished and sent today. I am Chris. This is my first time applying to this school but I have heard a lot of really good things about it. Especially excited about the idea of a third campus opening up. I have been on this site for some time now and have gotten a ton of great information about different schools and interviews and such. Good luck to everyone.

I'm applying again this year. Made it to the interview last go & was advised to update a few things & try again, so that's what I'm doing. More volunteer work, check. More shadowing, check, updated A&P, check. And, pretty soon I'll probably drop the medical teaching gig to get more current HCE to add to the 20 plus years I already have. I'll be applying by the September deadline & am hoping to go to The new Tacoma site, if it's up by then, or Yakima. Good luck to everyone applying :)

I am applying as well: Amanda, 37; married with four kids. This is my first year applying and MEDEX is my top school, even though I am from Florida. (We're looking for an adventure, and Seattle topped both mine and my husband's lists). I am hoping that living in Florida won't hurt my chances too much. I've attended midwifery school have been involved in a midwifery practice for the past 6 years. (500+ births later!). Hope that I'll get to know some of you later! :)

I submitted my supplemental last night but my CASPA hasn't been verified yet. I'm 25 and from Oregon. I have four years of military experience as a medic, a weeklong Global Brigade trip to Honduras for medical aid, and I volunteer at a free medical clinic. I'm applying to the Masters programs and Seattle is my top choice.

My name is Sean and I'm reapplying this year to the Masters program in Seattle. I too am from Florida and I think thats what hurt my chances last year. I feel like they (MEDEX) wanted to see if their school was really one that I wanted to attend being that I'm from the other side of the country. I have been a paramedic for 8.5 years and by the time the program starts I will have been RN for almost a year. This will be my 3rd time total appling to PA schools (1st year FL only, last year Utah and MEDEX and this year Utah and MEDEX, got waitlisted at both schools last year) and if I don't make it, probably my last time applying. I have been working towards this goal of mine for sometime and it hasn't worked out thus far so I realize that it may not be what I'm destined to do. Good luck to all who apply this year! As for the interviews they really weren't that bad. Of course you will be nervous and I'll still be nervous if I'm selected again but you have to just be confident in yourself and answer to the best of your ability.

Is anybody near the Tacoma area? I want to see if anyone would be interested in setting up a small group to sharpen our interviewing skills. We can meet up a few times before interviews start. I know that they haven't even started sending out invites yet, but I just want to prepare as much as possible...

Hey Only Boys - I am from Florida as well, I dont think being from Florida will hurt us. I think it shows our level of dedication. I am a paramedic fro Gainesville with a 4 y/o daughter. My wife and I are also looking froward to an adventure and moving to Seattle would defitnely qualify. My mother is actually a midwife. Good luck to you. Maybe we can Caravan LOL

I received the same e-mail a few weeks back. I sent a reply back to see if she had a timeframe for interviews because I wanted to possibly plan for time off with my job and she said anywhere from October to January. Kind of sucks!! I interviewed their last year and was given 2 week notice until my interview date which I think is kind of BS as it cost a ton to get a plane ticket with such short notice not to mention having to scramble to get my shifts at work covered.

I feel your pain regarding the short notice to interview. I interviewed at 4 schools all over the country and this was the situation at every school. I guarantee that the sacrifice and frustration of the last minute scramble is well worth it.

I don't know if this alleviates any anxiety but a little insight to the timeline at MEDEX might help. I interviewed around 4 Dec 2010 in Yakima. This years interviews for the incoming class were conducted around the same time so I think that it is safe to assume that those of you who applied to Yakima probably won't hear anything until around Thanksgiving or a little before. The interviews for the master's sites were conducted before this and Anchorage was after Yakima.

I received my acceptance phone call right before Christmas 2010 (that was a great Christmas and Happy New Year). We Started receiving material and information regarding the upcoming year in late January. As a side note; do 2012 taxes asap! I don't understand all of the reasons why but the financial aid office stresses this. We started the online portion in March. You will be able to work still but beware that every single page in the A&P book will be covered. There is one test a week. It should be review but if I was to recommend topics to study before the course begins I would suggest that you study the physiology of the liver, pancreas, spleen and kidneys as soon as you gain acceptance. Study the details that you haven't covered in depth before.

Summer session will begin around the first week or early second week of July. Clinical medicine is touched upon in the summer and this is when you will finally feel like you're in PA school. We could have done without some of the classes but it was a good experience overall. Summer is also a good time to network and find a roommate or two for the upcoming year.

I hope this answers some questions. Feel free to ask me questions and I'll answer them as best I could. One more thing, I read "Getting into the PA School of Your Choice" to guide me. I think that the interview section has some good suggestions and would highly recommend it.
