medic25
We have pre-assembled naloxone kits that we are distributing to at-risk patients; it comes with 2x 2mg narcan luer-jets, 2 MAD devices, and an instruction card. It's part of a state DPH program to increase distribution.
RuralER/Ortho
I am not... I know that this was a recent topic in the EMRAP series. This hasn't really been brought up in my region even really. Admittedly our substance problems tend to be more meth and booze...
cc56
I saw this in the ED. The person had a case of like 4. Once it was used it had a very annoying beep that would not stop. a nurse threw it in a sharps container and the thing went on all night beeping, people were unhappy in that room. ohiovolffemtp
I will only write for a home narcan kit if the patient has very worried responsible adults there: parents, spouse, SO, etc. Otherwise, I won't. Who do these patients OD around - usually not responsible adults. I still run as a FF/medic - have only seen Narcan used once by someone on scene. I'd much rather have these folks get seen and treated by EMS.
