EMTP-Sarah
Hi all. Question, I'm wondering if working as a Paramedic for a wildland fire crew would count as HCE? I would be a wildland firefighter as well, so it wouldn't be strictly medical work but I would be lead medical for my crew, carrying the equipment, and providing care to my crew and others. I currently have about 6000 HCE as an EMT and Paramedic, so I meet the HCE requirements for the schools I will be applying to but would always like some more hours. Administrator rev ronin Posted February 21, 2016 Administrator Share Posted February 21, 2016 You're fine. Wildland fire stuff will help, but not a whole lot beyond your existing 6000 HCE hours. If anything, it might give you a few more cool stories to tell in your personal statement or in interviews. Best wishes!
SCHW9076
This will certainly set you apart from other candidates. I would add patient encounter hours as you see fit. Good luck to you.
