strongrx
I am a pharmacist I have applied to 3 Pd schools already, but didnt even made it to the interview. Any tips/word of advice to boost my chances to get it? Sometimes I feel being a pharmacist is a disadvantage. I think If I'm an EMT, I'd get a better opportunity! Administrator rev ronin Posted December 14, 2015 Administrator Share Posted December 14, 2015 You're a Pharm.D. pharmacist, and you're not even getting interviews? Tell us more about yourself--how long have you been in pharmacy? What motivates you to switch to PA? Did you articulate that well? Knowing nothing else about your app, as an adcom member I would be curious about what motivated you to switch, and if so, what will keep you from switching from PA to something else in the near future? MT2PA
In addition to what Rev said, the pharmacist role shouldn't hurt you, but you probably still need to make an effort to get some direct patient experience. Depending on what role you were working in previously, because they vary wildly from what I understand, the amount and quality of patient contact may not be sufficient. You didn't mention it, but depending on how far out of school you are may mean you need to retake some pre-reqs purely for time lapse reasons. Some schools have strict cutoffs for those things and use them to filter apps.
UGoLong
My family practice preceptor in PA school was a pharmacist who went back to med school. You should be a good catch for a program, provided you have some recent grades and some hands-on HCE.
