Productivity Income?

Hey All!

 

I was curious to know how many PAs on this forum were in some way compensated based on productivity? If you are willing to share your experience with this, it would be a good education to many PAs during salary negotiations. If you are uncomfortable posting on the thread, please feel free to PM me with some details.

good luck. I have tried repeatedly to go under productivity and never had any luck in convincing her employer's. As I consistently collect 3-350,000 per year and in billing well over 450k this is very frustrating.

 

but..... CV is polished going out to find somewhere that will do this

 

 

 

have read 2 interesting statistics recently.

 

Total employment expense for PAs is about 50 percent of collections.

salary is approximately 36 percent of collections.

 

Average collections just under 250

in my em pa group we get base pay+ productivity.

productivity averages 22 dollars/hr across a group of 16 pa's with a high of 35/hr and a low of 12/hr.

I think productivity is a 2 edged sword. sure, you can make more to do more but it encourages you to be sloppy. the guy at 35/hr has sketchy notes which I would not want to have to defend. I shoot for the middle of the pack or try not to think about it at all. sure, I will pick up a quick uti or dental pain before the start of a shift or at the end of a shift that I might not otherwise but I try to limit it to that....

Maybe this situation is more common in derm - I have been straight production compensation for the last 6+ years. I wouldn't have it any other way. It is highly motivating for the provider and the more the provider brings in, the more it benefits the practice too. I know quite a number of derm PAs who are on straight production.

I have base pay plus 20% of my collections after 2.5x my salary. I think this works out well. I am more likely to see that extra patient or stay late to do that extra procedure. I collected 250,000 last year which was low because we added another doctor. the year before that I collected 300,000. Adding the new doc cost me 10,000, so it does have some down sides.
