kkwonger14
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone who has gone through PA school or is in PA school right now could give me some resources to find scholarships for PA school. I have gone through Fastweb and tried to google it, but I really can't find any scholarships for PA school. I know about the repayment programs and scholarships which I plan to apply for when NHSC decides to open up this years applications, but I wanted to look for extra help.... Thanks! lastar
There really aren't many. There are a few through the AAPA, I believe. You could also check with your state's PA organization. You may find 1 or 2 that are for veterans or relatives of veterans. There is the National Health Service Corp Scholarship and Loan Repayment program (http://nhsc.hrsa.gov/). This is a scholarship where you commit to work in an under-served area for x number of years for them to pay for school. There are also some state programs that are similar to this (I know there is one for Tennessee). Good luck!

If you go to a PA program in California, there are three scholarships ($1,000 each) CAPA student members can apply for offered by the California Academy of Physician Assistants. You might also check the California Health Professions Education Foundation http://www.oshpd.ca.gov/HPEF/Schlrshp.html there are a few there that PA-S have recieved. The Office of Statewide Health Planning & Development runs the NHSC State loan repayment program http://www.oshpd.ca.gov/HWDD/SLRP.html they also run the NHSc Search program which if the PA-S qualifies can get a stipend while on clinical rotations: http://www.oshpd.ca.gov/HWDD/Cal-SEARCH/index.html If you are a Veteran, the Veterans's Caucus of the AAPA offers Scholarships. https://www.paymyassociation.com/displayemailforms.cfm?SessionId=266998B9-D4D2-9D05-C2F9EB597C3B2F03&emailformnbr=96087 If you are a member of SAAAPA the Physician Assistant Foundation offers the PAF Scholarship: http://www.aapa.org/student-academy/awards/physician-assistant-foundation-scholarship
acozadd
Certain programs give out scholarships that can be quite significant. I wasn't even aware my program offered scholarships until I received a call saying they were giving me 20k. Could possibly influence your school selection.
