PAC413
Hi all - I'm looking into doing some mission trips, for a week or two at some point during the year. I am not currently a medical professional and have found it difficult to find organizations that are interested in having volunteers that are non-medical. Wondering if anyone has had experience with this? and some potential recommendations as to what organizations to go through? Thank you!!
Diggy
It may be difficult for an organization to bring you on for a medical mission trip with no prior experience. Since you're not a medical personnel, try getting certified as an EMT, MA, CNA, or phlebotomist. Having some form of clinical skill(s)/training will help you in the long run because you have something they can use to further their mission. Have you thought about AmeriCorps? They are a gov't service and they have amazing opportunities for those who desire to give back to the community. They also have a branch called Community HealthCorps where you improve access to medical care via serving as a liaison/ patient advocate.

optimistic3
Check out Global Brigades. I've seen these trips organized at my school, meaning undergrads (non-medical professionals) do go on them. I'm not sure how it works (if you have to organize the whole group or if you can join a group) but it's something to look into.
