beautyforashes
Hi, I'm planning to call some PA's to see if I could shadow them, and also get a letter of rec from them at the end. I was wondering how many hours total I should ask for, and how many hours I should shadow them each visit?
greenmood
Ask what works for them. They will be able to tell you how many hours they can keep you during the day, how many days a week they want you tagging along, etc.
darrylius
i too am wondering about this...I'm just starting to realize that I need to get my shadowing done so I can see if I'd like it as a PA, and also for the admissions process. how many hours of shadowing have you done for each PA-C shadowed? How many hours is enough before that PA gets sick of you??:xD:
mackjacks
I agree with the previous reply, and wanted to add that I have found it most useful to go shadow for an entire day/shift of the PA (assuming that works for them). I have a shadowing experience where I went for 3 hours every Monday afternoon for a month, and another were I observed two 8 hour days of a different PA. Seeing the entire 9-5 day was more indicative of what the profession is like in my experience.
