VictoriaO
Thanks for posting this! Fun review of pericarditis, I've only seen pericarditis in the ICU in my H1N1 pt, he "tamponaded" pretty quick I've got a really interesting Endo case brewing in clinic, I'll try and get the details since labs will be back now and if I have time I'll post it tomorrow. CJKitty
Thanks for posting this, 95% went over my head since I'm only two weeks into my program but I still love watching the problem-solving process. Hope I can actually contribute some thoughts to one of these cases next quarter!

Administrator rev ronin Posted June 21, 2011 Administrator Share Posted June 21, 2011 Aww, shucks, I was hoping that the 12-lead was just a red herring and it was a non-cardiac cause. :-)

Moderator True Anomaly Posted June 23, 2011 Moderator Share Posted June 23, 2011 While this was ultimately diagnosed in the hospital (I'm assuming as much, deborah, since you're a hospitalist PA), as a teaching point to students- a key thing to do during your evaluation in the ER with a chest pain patient is SERIAL EKGs. Considering most chest pain patients are in the ED for an hour or greater getting their workup, if you're not repeating EKG's to see any progression of disease you're not doing them a service.
