Maverick87
Hey all. Fairly straight forward question here. I just found a residency program that looks really good, but is only 6 months in length. It seems that most residency programs are 12-24 months. I found it on the APPAP website so it seems to be legit. What does everybody think? Legit or sketchy? Thanks!
Moderator EMEDPA Posted October 31, 2014 Moderator Share Posted October 31, 2014 it's a bit short, but hey, why not?
akdEM
6 months of good training is worth more than 12 mediocre ones... So I'd put more weight in the quality than the length. What specialty?
Moderator EMEDPA Posted November 1, 2014 Moderator Share Posted November 1, 2014 any postgrad training is worthwhile. hurley medical center in flint, michigan does a trauma fellowship that is very short, but likely excellent.

SoCalPA
If Derm is what you want it doesn't look like you'll have many options. Do more research on them before you judge them. Maybe you should make contact with them. Perhaps they could put you in touch with a recent fellow so you can ask more questions. I would think that is a reasonable request. Ask them about their curriculum. Their hospital affiliations don't look to shabby. University and Institutional AffiliationsGeorgetown University Medical Hospital, Washington, DC Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC George Washington University Hospital, Washington, DC P.S. Why does the gender of the employees give you pause? Just curious

Moderator True Anomaly Posted November 3, 2014 Moderator Share Posted November 3, 2014 I've had bad experiences with all female work places. Generally, if there are absolutely no males working there, there's a reason for that. Huh. Interesting thing to admit on the PA forum
