Blaww99
My pre-req's are all 10+ years old, but I scored 36 on the MCAT earlier this year. Is it likely I will have to take my perquisites over again? Doesn't my MCAT score indicate that I already know the material? I emailed the only school I could attend, but I assume I won't hear back until after the first of the year. Thank you.
ctstone1
Varies from school to school. Most of the ones I applied to wouldn't make any exceptions on their pre-req deadlines. There are a few out there that don't have deadlines. The school I will attend might not even have a deadline. Wouldn't hurt to reach out to some of the places you are interested in. Z PA-C
36 on the MCAT is great if you want to get into med school. Are you in the right forum? But to answer your question, the prereqs between med school and PA are a bit different. MCAT does not test on anatomy, physio, or microbio outside of what you learn in general biology. Also most PA programs will require you to take the GRE.
Blaww99
I would apply to IU. They accept GRE or MCAT.
Moderator EMEDPA Posted December 23, 2013 Moderator Share Posted December 23, 2013 36 mcat will get you into most MD programs and all DO programs. all it shows PA programs is that you would rather be a doc and PA is your second choice. ..... Blaww99
But I'm not interested in applying to any med schools. lol
Blaww99
I got a response from the school......... 1. There is currently no time limit on prerequisites. 2. But that might change, and the option of submitting MCAT scores might change, too.
Moderator EMEDPA Posted December 23, 2013 Moderator Share Posted December 23, 2013 very few pa programs( 2-3?) accept the mcat instead of the gre. why did you bother taking it?
S Brake
But I'm not interested in applying to any med schools. lolI hope you don't mind me asking, but what was the reason for taking the MCAT if you're not interested in med school?
bradtPA
Most programs want a time limit because in sciences, updates can make a huge difference. The changes in biology from when I took general bio in 1977 to when I retook it in 2004 were dramatic and important to understanding medicine.....
