pa2007
Looking for some advice... I have a job offer to work at a medspa; lasers only. The physician assistant does the consultation and the procedure (acne laser/tattoo laser/hair removal laser). The major concern that I have is that the business is owned by 2 non-physicians and the supervising physician is an ER doc. He co-signs the charts and only sees the patients to prescribe them pain meds and anxiety meds to take before the acne laser or tattoo laser removal procedure. He doesn't do any procedures (the PA does that). He has training/certification in the specific lasers that are used. This seems very borderling to me... Please give advice/suggestions... Administrator rev ronin Posted March 20, 2013 Administrator Share Posted March 20, 2013 I suppose it depends on your state, but as I understand the rules in mine, the PA must be practicing within the same scope of practice as the MD. Whether that qualifies or not... I dunno. Sounds like it's designed to make some people money.
